The Band

Resurrection Blues Band

the Resurrection Blues Band was formed August 26, 2017 with Rodney Mills on Guitar & Vocals, Scott Ovens on Drums & Tommy Knight on bass but. Over the years the band has gone through a multitude of changes from having a Horn section, Harmonica & Organ. While this gave a big sound it also led to being to many cooks in the kitchen. Finally they settled on being a 3 piece band once again with founding members Rodney Mills, Scott Ovens & Seasoned Veteran Mike Balmes rounding off the Power Trio known as the Resurrection Blues Band. Heavy Blues born from Good Times, Bad Times & Hard Times. In 2023 Mike was replaced on Bass by Frank Rotondo whom recorded 3 of the tracks on Genesis.  In early 2024 William Stone replaced Frank on Bass and finished out the last 3 tracks on Genesis.  Now in early 2025,  longtime drummer Scott Ovens was replaced with Randall Willis for the 2025 season .

Rodney Mills (Vocals & Guitar)

Formally lead guitarist and founding member of Brother Orchid, a Hard Rock band based in Benton Harbor Mi., in 1993-1995 and a couple other projects  up to 1997 he called it quits in the music industry as he traveled the country as a Boilermaker then Pipe Fitter and offshore with Bisso Marine in New Orleans. After years away from his passion, Rodney finally felt the time was right to show the world what he had to offer once again. While living in Sun Louisiana in 2010 Rodney found his passion to play again and finally felt the time was right to show the world what he had to offer and picked up his guitar once again. After a 19 yr break from the music business, Rodney moved back to SW Michigan to pursue a new start with the Blues. In 2016 he joined a local blues band the Undertakers for a short run as a rhythm guitarist. In 2017 he formed a new beginning which resulted in the Resurrection of old time friends whom also were starting over. In early 2018 the Resurrection Blues Band was formed.

Randall Willis(Drums)

Drummer, percussionist Randall Willis received his first drum kit at around the age of 3 and has had a passion for music ever since. Growing up in church as Randall father is a retired pastor, it was in him. As a self-taught drummer, it was his love of gospel, jazz, R&B and blues music that built the foundation of his playing. From there,  listening to other drummers from all genres from fusion & alternative to rock & roll, has allowed for many opportunities in the music industry.
Whether on stage or in the studio, the challenge to "play what's right for the song" is what continues to develop his style and versatility as a musician.
Over the years, Randall’ experiences range from touring America and Canada to working as a session drummer in Chicago and Michigan. Artists include Tyrone Davis, Preston Love,JoJo Murray, Shirley King,Phil Guy,Artie Blues boy White,  Doktu Muuzic formerly Roy Hytower, J.R Clark Band, Rocco, Head Honchos, LightHouse of All Nations Church, Gods House of All Nations,  and many many more. Randall was given Master Drummer , during the 5th Annual black American Music award, by The Black American Blues Historical Society of Canada 2003.
Randall’ experience in the music industry has been much more than sitting behind a drum kit. From working as a sound engineer to co-owner of record label to owning a local recording studio, Randall has gained invaluable insight into the business side of things. Randall appreciates the amount of work it takes to be a successful independent musician and engineer .
Currently residing in Indiana outside of Chicago , Randall plays regularly at local venues, festivals, churches and picks up a variety of gigs along the way. When not playing music you can find Randall at Ford Motor company where he has worked 27 1/2 years, or probably spending time with his wife and grandchildren , camping, vacationing  and enjoying life.

William Stone (Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals & Harmonica))

William breathes new life to the band with determination and his sights set to the stars.
